With the historic decision adopted at UNESCO's 43rd General Conference on November 3, 2025, December 15 has been officially declared "World Turkic Language Family Day." This significant date, marking the anniversary of Wilhelm Thomsen’s 1893 announcement to the world that he had deciphered the Orkhon Inscriptions, now serves as a celebration recognizing the ancient civilizational heritage of Turkic languages as a universal value.
As ITU TÖMER, we share the excitement and pride of this decision, which was announced in Samarkand. To celebrate the richness and unifying power of our language, we have prepared a special project with our international students who are native speakers of various Turkic languages. You can watch the video below to witness the beauty of our language, which is nourished by the same roots and resonates across different geographies, through the voices of our students.
