As ITU TÖMER family, we continue to encourage our students to get to know Turkish culture closely.  For this purpose, we organized a mini Turkish Folk Music Concert for our TÖMER students on Monday, April 18, with the support of our ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory students.

In our 2nd cultural event held with the contributions of Alin Yağcıoğlu, one of the dear faculty members of ITU SFL, at the Motivation Center of the SFL on the Maçka campus, Gaye Aksum and Mahsum Kaya, students from the ITU TMSC Voice Department, performed 6 different Turkish folk songs from 6 different regions of Turkey.

These folk songs gave ITU TOMER and ITU International Bees Club students the opportunity to get to know Turkish music closely. In addition to being an English instructor, a previous voice coach at ITU Conservatory of Turkish Music Alin Yağcıoğlu gave information about the folk songs performed and their regions. Our students had a great time as well as having detailed information about Turkish folklore and music.

Our students, who had the opportunity to see the characteristics of different regions and different types of music specific to Turkish culture, stated that they are looking forward to the next cultural event.

We would like to thank our teachers and students who contributed to this cultural event.  Hope to see you at the next event…
