As the ITU TÖMER team, we attended the seminar titled "Ten Years of Universal Dependencies" organized by the ITU NLP Research Group on September 7, 2023.

We had the privilege of listening to the Universal Dependencies (UD) project, which started about ten years ago and involved more than 500 researchers around the world, from Joakim Nivre, one of the founders of the project. While touching on the historical development of UD during the seminar, Professor Nivre also talked about the benefits it provides in both natural language processing and linguistics. The future of UD was also discussed at the seminar.

As the ITU TÖMER research team, we closely follow the developments in the field of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language and aim to contribute to the field with our studies specifically on Turkish.
