Our end-of-year breakfast event from last week can be read through the words of our C1 graduate, Muhammed Zaza. See you at our next event!

On June 24th, İTÜ TÖMER students and teachers gathered to celebrate the end of the academic year. In the event, we enjoyed a traditional Turkish breakfast and a series of student presentations.
We began the day with breakfast. Actually, some of our classmates hand in hand with our teachers prepared the breakfast table, or rather I should say a breakfast masterpiece. I looked on with wonder as the table came together with its colors and diverse dishes. Everything you could and couldn't think of was there: cheese, börek, simit, vegetables, menemen, honey, fruits, and pistachios.

But for me, the star of the show, the hero of the morning was kuymak. It is a Black Sea dish made with butter and cheese. It didn’t just look crazy amazing but tasted delicious, thanks to our teachers and friends who prepared it.

We enjoyed the breakfast in a cool and lively environment that ITU TÖMER always just seems to perfect. It fosters connection and a sense of community among students.
Then it was our time to shine, the C1 evening class. In my opinion, the greatest joys of learning a new language is finally being able to speak it proudly and confidently. That confidence, that ego boost is indescribable.

As we continued the breakfast, the presentations began. Each student chose their own topic, and the range was impressive. We started by learning about penguins, then about medicines. I followed with a talk about inspiration. We finished with a comparison between Istanbul Technical University and the Technical University of Vienna.

Besides teaching us something new, every presentation was proof of how much we’ve learned. We didn't only learn grammar and vocabulary but how to speak Turkish fluently and proudly. I felt truly proud of both myself and my classmates. We started this journey together. Seeing how far everyone has come was incredible.
For me, it was an emotional moment. I felt deeply grateful to our teachers, not only for teaching Turkish, but for helping us discover the language, live it, and love it. Their efforts brought us here.
This event wasn’t just food and speeches. It was a celebration of success, effort, and the friendships at İTÜ TÖMER. That’s why it made perfect sense to end the day with a certificate ceremony to recognize everything that was accomplished.
We walked out that day not only with certificates, but with very full stomachs, new insights, unforgettable memories, and a stronger than ever confidence in our Turkish.
